Vulcans are one of the strongest counters to enemy armies that feature a large number of chaff units, and are especially deadly against [[Crawler|Crawlers]], who will die to the Vulcan's attacks before ever reaching melee range. Vulcans cannot attack air units and struggle to damage units with high HP stats (e.g. [[Rhino|Rhinos]], [[Fortress|Fortresses]]). Although a Vulcan takes a long time to kill durable units, a Vulcan with increased damage (veterancy, items, or the Scorching Flames damage upgrade) has enough damage to effectively kill more durable units with multiple models such as [[Steel Ball|Steel Balls]] or [[Sledgehammer|Sledgehammers]] that would normally be able to withstand a Vulcan's attacks.

Summary

The Vulcan is a giant unit that specializes in destroying large groups of grounded units with powerful AoE damage.

Vulcans are one of the strongest counters to enemy armies that feature a large number of chaff units, and are especially deadly against Crawlers, who will die to the Vulcan's attacks before ever reaching melee range. Vulcans cannot attack air units and struggle to damage units with high HP stats (e.g. Rhinos, Fortresses). Although a Vulcan takes a long time to kill durable units, a Vulcan with increased damage (veterancy, items, or the Scorching Flames damage upgrade) has enough damage to effectively kill more durable units with multiple models such as Steel Balls or Sledgehammers that would normally be able to withstand a Vulcan's attacks.
